    HCCS School Rules:

Admittance:

Children who will be 5 yrs of age by September 30th of the said year, may be enrolled in Kindergarten. Those who will be 6 yrs of age by September 30th may be enrolled in first grade. Special circumstances may apply.

Readiness is crucial for admission to any grade. Students challenged by basic curriculum may be required to meet training requirements which extend beyond the classroom. Past records may be used in conjunction with test scores to determine grade placement.

Students transferring from other schools should have an average to above average record. Students who have been suspended or expelled from another school, or students with a juvenile record may be required to interview with the Administrator and/or School Board before being admitted to HCCS.

HCCS does not discriminate against any denomination, nationality, gender or ethnicity.

Attendance:

Regular school attendance is required by law and is necessary for good scholarship. Absences must be reported to the school office by 9:00 AM. A written excuse signed by a legal guardian must be submitted upon return stating the reason for absence.  It is each student's responsibility to make-up any missed assignments. A student with 20 or more absences can be retained in the same grade level. At the discretion of the School Board, a student with 30 or more absences will constitute an automatic failure.

Discipline:

Behavior guidelines are based on Philippians 2:3, which states: "Let nothing be done through strife or vain glory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves."

Attendance at HCCS is a privilege. Any student, whose conduct or attitude in or out of school shows him/her to be in opposition to the basic principles and purpose of HCCS may be suspended and/or expelled.

Disobedience, disrespect, lack of courtesy, incomplete homework, cheating, or behavioral problems will be handled by the  teacher. Recurrent or unusual situations will be referred to the Administrator.

At HCCS, we strive to resolve all matters of discipline in a manner which results in the subject growing closer to God and "produce a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it." Hebrews 12:11 NIV - See Proverbs 12:17;15:10;32.

Health & Safety Information & Procedures

Accidents:

The child will be sent to the school office for first aid for all minor accidents.

In case of a major accident, the teacher is not to leave the child, but will send another student for help.

A medical release is to be on file in the school office for each student.

Communicable Diseases:

Diseases such as Measles or German Measles, Whooping Cough, Chicken Pox, Mumps, Respiratory Streptococcal Infections (including Scarlet Fever), Tonsillitis, Impetigo, Scabies, Lice, Ring Worm, or other diseases as recognized by the Ohio Dept of Health are serious and can be a threat to other children. Advice from a physician must be sought in dealing with such illnesses and concerning the amount of time the child should be away from school. Any child displaying symptoms which may be discerned as communicable and a threat to other children will be required to leave the school and seek medical advice. Students must be fever free for at least 24 hrs before returning to school.

Dangerous Items:

Any item by which its nature is, or could become dangerous must never be brought to school. This includes, but is not limited to items such as guns, knives, matches, lighters, laser devices, fireworks, alcohol, illegal drugs, or drugs prescribed for an individual other than the student. Any such item found in the student's possession will be confiscated, and the student will be disciplined as deemed appropriate by the Administrator.

Bus Policy:

Students using the bus service provided to them by their local school district must adhere to the rules set forth by the district. In addition to local school district rules, students of HCCS should exhibit exemplary behavior while using the bus service.
